I'm sorry that the gameplay is not clear, I'll try to explain in a nutshell. The shield contains up to 3 bonuses that are temporarily applied to the hero. If the Shield absorbs another bonus over 3, then the current left one is "digested", becomes 2 times weaker, but stays with the hero forever, makes him stronger.
The main task of the game is to bring bonuses with parameters 2 or more to "digestion", so that when the player is reborn, he starts with higher stats. I understand that this is difficult and I'm very sorry about it :)
