A swamp is the perfect place to find fireflies, and I love that take on the theme! Just as you describe, when you reach the B section at about 1 minute, the fireflies come out in the high register twinkling echoey sounds. The use of dorian harmony makes me imagine a renaissance-y type town, but the modulation at the 1:38 mark gives a more modern touch to it adds a different character to the town that makes me think more of neon lights - perhaps powered by fireflies?
