The survival missions are currently infinite wave sandboxes, largely to allow for combat and systems testing :D. Would check out the Red-Light and Test Mission areas for a better idea of what actual missions will look like ^-^. They will consist of multiple maps, sometimes with a shop or rest area in the middle.
