I will certainly agree there are a few issues with battle - this post might enlighten you ( https://www.patreon.com/posts/71945688 ) as to where the game stands with that. TL DR, the game has already been in development for some time.

But, I will actually address some of the concerns here that you've listed as many of them actually exist within the game already.

When it comes to battle, you essentially attack regardless of what you do. Shifting your stance means affecting your ability to attack or defend. Finally, you can shift your attack type - which changes the type of damage you deal.  You use stance shifting along with the style shifting to influence combat.

As per the "no health /etc" points, those are present as well.  Sensing an enemy's health is something you discover from gaining enlightenment. There are many helpful things you acquire from gaining enlightenment as a matter of fact.

There's an in-game guide that explains almost every facet of the game, check it out when you have a moment as combat is also explained in more detail there.
