To make sure you have 3 significant modifications, have at least 2new levels that are substantially different from each other and the tutorial levels in how they play out, you may want to make larger levels too. You should also be very clear in your final submission on where you got your sprites from to give proper credit or to make it clear what you made yourself, same applies to any new fonts. If you do not do this, you will lose points.
