Totally valid. The way I programmed it was based on sample rate adjusting pitch, and the only way for Gamemaker Studio 2 (the engine I use) to do that is to "reset" the sound, so it sounds choppy, which is definitely not what I wanted either. The alternative would be to manipulate the "pitch" of the audio directly, which I've done in other experiments, and tbh I could do here, but would have to rewrite it. In truth, this started out as a chiptune tracker of sorts, but ended up here. So that's why I started the code the way I did. All that to say, I may just rewrite this to actually bend the pitch instead of adjusting the sample rate, one day. Thanks for the input!
