Transfer itch.io cloud save to steam

Is there a way to transfer my save file from the itch.io cloud copy to the Steam copy? I was hoping to pick up where I left off on the game on my Steam Deck

Developer

Well, this is possible, but complicated.

On a pc you can install both versions, retrieve the cloud save from the itch version, then launch the steam version so it detects and upload the save to the steam cloud. then it should download it to your steam deck.

I have both the itch.io and steam version installed, but they don't seem to see each other, or interact. Do I have to copy the files from the itch.io over to the steam copy on my pc?

Developer

No they both use the same folder to save the files.

If you play the itch.io version. Do you see your saves? if not, connect to the cloud save in game.

Then quit and start the steam version. you should also see your saves.

Yeah, no. That's not what's happening. The itch.io version and the steam version are in two separate locations; two separate folders from each other. The itch.io has my save file and the steam doesn't. Part of why I was asking was I noticed that the steam version doesn't have the cloud login option that the itch.io pc & android versions have for the saves. So that was why I was curious if I needed to copy or overwrite any files from the itch.io into the steam copy

Steam Folder Locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Robin Morningwood Adventure
C:\Users\[user]\AppData\LocalLow\GrizzlyGamerStudio\Robin Morningwood Adventure

Itch.io:
C:\Program Files (x86)\RobinMorningwoodAdventure_TWS

blergh, it's become mute now as it seems that my Grizzly Gamer cloud save was wiped somehow <_>

Developer

actually,

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Robin Morningwood Adventure

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\RobinMorningwoodAdventure_TWS

are the installation folders. they are different indeed because the itch and the steam version are different. one uses Playfab to store data on the cloud (itch) and the other uses Steam built-in cloud save system.

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\LocalLow\GrizzlyGamerStudio\Robin Morningwood Adventure

This folder is the save folder.  And it's shared between the Steam and itch version.

I'm sorry if it's not simple to communicate between the two versions, but it was never designed that way.

You can send me an email at grizzlygamerstudio@gmail.com so I can check on your itch cloud save. But I won't be able to copy it to your Steam account because this is not something they allow me to do.
