Never waste breath explaining yourself. To them the issue is not that it is done wrong, it is that it exists at all. Trying to explain yourself to someone who has already decided who you are is wasted effort. All kink, in any form, no matter how uncomfortable it may be, exists as means to navigate and express a feeling that exists inside of someone. Some form of yearning, a vulnerability, a taboo, questions that need to be answered... it's all the same thing and when you recognize this, any excuse for shunning kink evaporates.

Which is why it's important to understand that the very purpose of any repressive speech/action is not solely to silence that expression, but to deny the very existence of those feelings wholesale. To want to explore the most gnarled parts of yourself unflinchingly should be celebrated, not shunned.
