My thoughts on the Demo

First of all, I really like the way you wrote your profile and game description.

The visuals from the preview made me instantly grab the demo. I opened it up and the 3 intro screen, including the "I want to dedica..." - further I could not read, because it was gone. 1 second per image. that is too fast. I am assuming that you want the animation on the right side to be more like a  slight show than a fluent animation of switching images. If not I might have had trouble with my frames during playing. I also noticed "spam clicking" the text page scrolls it sometimes and gets the game a bit confused. That is not a big deal tho. It is about the story after all, right? :) And that is something I really like. I  can see and feel how much effort you put into it and I would like to offer you help with the german localization if you wanted! If you think there is a way to mail or (discord) PM me your text file i will gladly send you the german text back! For free, or rev-share. I did not have the best setting to get comfortable while playing so I will do it again and try to see where other choices ingame lead me! I'll be sure to follow! I am not sure why I can't make a normal comment to the game as I usually do for reviews, but I am sure this will reach you as well! Feel free to reach out. meanwhile, I will sink back into your story. I will also try to run in on lower settings, becaue I feel the performance was a little bit poor compaired to what I am used to with my PC. I will let you know!

Hiya! Thank you for this amazing review!

I'm really happy you found the visuals appealing and gave the demo a go. I actually shortened the time the images are displayed for because I thought it would become quite annoying after seeing them a couple times but I'll change it again as per your suggestion! It is a heartfelt dedication and I should let people know it, I just now realise I may have been a little ashamed of being sentimental there.

The transition animation you mention wasn't supposed to be a a slide show, unfortunately, though I like how you let that be an option. I'll look into it immediately and make it look better on slower computers and lapops, thank you for the info! I also think I know what you mean by the "spam clicking" and I'll fix it in the next update. I have to admit, however, I don't think I understand the scrolling part, can we talk about it on Discord, perhaps? Here's my server, you can find me there personally, too: https://discord.gg/7D8HnE2S We could also discuss your extremely kind offer!

Heey!!!

That was a quick reply, much appreciated! The visuals were great, did you create them yourself?

I get what you mean by being ashamed of being sentimental. It so often happens that I translate something to my liking, but feel that no one else would share my opinion or thoughts on it. Well, I am limited to what the original scripts have to offer, but you: you got all the freedom and independence in the world to do whatever you want. Don't forget that it is your game, not someone else's game.

If you start to hide what you love and work for your audience doesn't get the chance to experience what you wanted to deliver. Intro screens are annoying, sometimes, yeah. But only if you are forced to watch them. For most games, you can just click them away or decide to give them their time and read along. I don't know if that was an option because I really wanted to read it :D

Additionally, I think that it is YOU making this game special. It was not the fact that it is a visual novel that made me pick it up, it was not the backstory I got to read on the page - in fact, I never play visual novels - it was YOU convincing me to try your game because I could feel how much you are into this.

For the performance part: I don't know why my PC struggled. I admit it is quite an outdated computer, but I run games like Dead by Daylight, Smite, Overwatch or Spirit Detective without any bigger issues. That may be the reason why I expected everything I see to be wanted as it is. It added a little bit to the atmosphere, quite surprising. The text transitions, however, did give my PC a little hiccup sometimes. I am planning to look into your game again RIGHT NOW and stress-test everything I see. For the first run, I tried to look at it as a casual gamer - usually, I test itch games to their very limit when it comes to bugs, glitches and performance.

I am not too sure either anymore what I meant with the scrolling part, but in case I run into it I will make a clip of it and direct it to you via Discord! I still have not seen all the choosable options and texts and I am looking forward to seeing what you did.

I'll make sure to join your discord, but please be aware that my PC is running the entire day, mostly, without me being here - it may take a bit for me to respond. (different time zones + I work night shifts etc.)

Finally, to my "extremely kind offer" - I'd feel honoured to help and add such an amazing project to my portfolio.
