The pushing E to get rid of the shark, is only working during the tutorial. If you skip the tutorial it won't work. Also the second time you get to the push E to scare it away it won't work.
At least that was my experience, Tried 6 times. Failed each time due to it not responding to my E pushing. The prompt did show up.
