Wow just wow... I am not sure where to even begin this review. I guess I will start by saying i loved this game. From the start, the visuals are beautiful, and I mean really beautiful, they must have taken a great deal of time, and I am very impressed. The music is also very good and worked really well with the bell sound that played when the fate timer was filled. As a whole all the sounds worked really well. Really great job on presentation.
Now game play wise is usually where these kind of text based games falter but not this one. For a start, giving the mouse and dice a sound was a really great choice and made the game feel grounded and not floaty, it feels good to play which is impressive. The way you integrated the theme and used the dice also made for a really cool way to experience this game, and having the skull tiles was sheer brilliance, at one point after I stole a gem I debated whether or not to go back the way I came or to climb out the window and risk death. I chose the latter because I was afraid I might get caught with the gem by a guard or something. As I climbed down and the dice rolled I was on the edge of my seat, I cannot overstate how exciting it was. You made a text based game one of the most exciting experiences I have had across the whole jam. When the dice had all settled I had survived and I had found an interesting event that I will say no more about because spoilers but I really like the ending I got ( I actually played 4 times haha and died in 3 of the attempts). Finally there is the fate time, I really liked this because it provided a really interesting choice of risking additional dice to get better choices and possibly getting stuck with a bad one or work with what I had ( the bell tolling when the timer was filled was pretty great as well).
I wish I had feedback for you something i could recommend you improve but I don't. This was a fantastic game, and I am very impressed at how much was done in just 48 hours. Thank you for sharing.
