TL;DR, We are looking people for a fan recreation of a lost media game, we have recreated the assets and foundation of the game, we just need more programmers, musicians, artists and animators interested in learning more about game development in general, so here's our Discord Server or you can contact a representative of the team on Discord with the handle sleepcaster#3295.

What is LPSO and what is LPSO: Revived?

Littlest Pet Shop Online, or LPSO, was an online multiplayer game developed by Electronic Arts in collaboration with Frima Studios, the main focus of the game was to emulate popular MMOs at the time like Club Penguin, Animal Jam, Moshi Monsters, among others, the game ran from 2009 to 2011 as the game shut down because a lack of profits as it utilized the subscription model so popular at the time, there's no backup or dump of any of the files on the internet.

LPSO: Revived is a reimagination of that made in Unity, we count with a dedicated team of artists that have constructed most of the original assets from the game, the project is a non-profit labor of love and passion for the original idea conceived by Frima Studios, at the moment we count with a playable demonstration and a running local server for it, though, we require more participants on the project.

To keep it short, we are looking for programmers experienced or novice in C#, artists willing to learn or already knowledgeable in vector graphics, plus musicians that want to recreate or assimilate the original feel of the music in the original game, we have a massive archive with photos, links, videos and multiple other variants of media to recreate the original project as much as possible.

• How long this project has been in development?

Development started in 2020 and we have gotten sporadic help from various collaborators and we now count with a safe and steady ground to keep building on top of the foundation we have, but, we still need more resources to maintain the project's focus, on top of that, we have constructed a Discord Server with over 1300+ members, so for that reason we want to bring joy and nostalgia to our fanbase as they deserve it since they have been following us for quite a while now.

Currently, we count with development documents and a marked structure of how we want to drive the project forward, so, our helpers do not have to worry about getting lost or feeling abandoned as we have created an optimized pipeline that works for everybody.

• If I join the project what will my responsibilities be?

We have an approach that you can assign yourself work that you feel capable of doing and finishing, if you do not finish a task, then another team member or a developer will take the baton in that regard so we do not diminish or underestimate anything done at some point and time by one of our helpers as we deeply appreciate all their efforts and best interests.

What's the scope of the project and what would I get out of it?

As mentioned before, this project is a fan recreation, so we don't have any plans to monetize it, but we want to offer experience in various fields coming in the form of feedback in fields like programming, art, music, animation, among others,  since we count with very talented people that have a various skillset in multiple fields that can help you grow as a professional in your career.

For more information, please join our Discord Server or contact sleepcaster#3295 on Discord to disclose the details of the game itself, we are very thankful you are interested in helping us in various ways and we hope that even if you do not become a collaborator in the server, that you can accompany us in the process, thank you so much.

(Images used do not correlate with actual development process, they just work as a visual representation of the original game).

I wished I could, but I have no knowledge about C++, python, that sorta stuff. I only know about .hx, that is about it.

We are open to any volunteers who want to help and are willing to help you learn the basics of C# and Unity if you are interested in helping out! You're welcome to hop into our Discord server and talk to our programming team for further info.

I can’t use discord, my parents fucking roll a pussy when I do, all because I took a doxxing joke SERIOUSLY. Probably and try to CONVINCE my parents, but it is probably a NO.

Sorry :((((

Bump!

hello! i’m a beginner in unity and c# in general and wondering if it’s possible i may join despite lack of experience? :)

Yes! We are looking for anyone who wants to help regardless of prior experience. Our programming team can definitely help you get started if you hop in our Discord server.

Hey there! Are you in need of translators? I am absolutely down to do the german localization or proofread an existing one. Currently, I am a small part of 'Industry Idle' on steam and just finished the german files. I got the time and definitely enjoy working with and around languages. I will continue working on Spirit Detective, which is the EU version of the Chinese steam game Soul Dossier later this year, but the more the better!! I'd love to take it as a refshare project and dont want any money. Credits would be spicy. If needed let me know! Note: I can only work with english as the base language.

I do remember the game, its been a while. really cool to see it being back!

Thank you for the kind words! Currently, translating the game isn't high on the priority list, but we would definitely like to make it available in other languages in the future. For the time being, though, we are focused on getting as much of the core game done in English as we can. We really appreciate the interest, and you are more than welcome to hop into our Discord for more immediate news related to the project (and so we can get in touch with you when localization is on our radar 👀). Plus, if you played the game when it was live, we would love to hear about any extra tidbits of information you can remember!

Bump!

This is so cool! If I knew programming I'd love to help, I see you have a lot of artists, including myself, who would love to volunteer lol. I played LPSO when I was a small kid and tried to come back to it when I was older, I was devastated to see the game was taken down. This brings hope! It makes me so happy to see this is something being worked on! I'll definitely try to share this around!
