Hey! Super nice entry with n important message!

What I liked:

  • The music - I really enjoyed the vibes, the voices and sounds of the Ukulele. They fit the red eyed frog theme very well.
  • Three different game styles in one: Narrative storytelling, a short side scrolling passage and a nice 2D level around the leaves with some nice NPCs ^^. A very good combination. And to connect that by the life-time story is a move that works out . It feels very - round - just like the cycle you address in the story.
  • It's super enjoyable since it has no complicated controls! I was able to play it right away using the controls by intuition. Good job.
  • The story keeps the player interested since you already teased the death of the frog at the beginning (always a good narrative method). The story itself has a double message since it's about the frog but also about life as a whole. I like that! Very creative.
  • The Pixelart style is neat :) I found all characters very enjoyable to watch. Even the antagonists (big fish and snake) were very likable :). Also the style in which the story is presented is very well done. The single images that form the story, like the planet in its different cataclysmic stages and then this evolves into the egg of the frog. Really good job.

What can be improved?

  • When walking down the leaves into the flies: If you keep walking and klick the flies the game will move the frog in the same direction that it was moving before you clicked (probably the game cycle method does not check if the moving key has been released when the click dialogue opens). That's by no means a big problem. Just wanted to point that out.
  • Let the fish eat the tadpole ;) - although that would be a real short story then ;)
  • The backgrounds of the pond and the leaves could be a bit more diverse :) - again, that fits the art style and is no problem, but ... hey! I have to find something to criticize, right? ;)

Overall a super nice entry. It has a super important message in a very dense and compact format that is enjoyable to play through.

Keep up the good work and thanks for submitting!
