Just another question about this, as I'm no expert on the original: what was to stop the player tooling up and wandering around the ship in a crowd, hunting the alien?

well in the movie they keep splitting up and dying, so uh, dunno?, maybe if they are  in a room with the alien with more than 4 people then the alien charges into them and kills 2-3 of them very quickly, so the player is forced to split up and avoid direct confrontation with the alien..

Sorry for digging an old topic, just stumbled upon this remake, I just love the original.

If I remember correctly, character's morale would start to go down if there are 3 or more characters in the same room (simulating the bickering and disagreement between characters), which was why you would have to split a bit things. Also, the time limit would force you to split to go faster.

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense.  I couldn't see why else the player would bother splitting their team up.  Btw, did you enjoy the game or is there any aspect you didn't like?
