The sound certainly has a conflict-ending tranquility to it, but every chord that otherwise would be major has some dissonance sprinkled in which is kind of like an “evil resolution” which is exactly the theme you suggest! That last chord is so interesting, a simple tonic minor chord resolution, but it sounds so much darker. I think your use of the minor third in the low register is the reason for this since close intervals in bass voices sound darker and dissonant even if they aren’t.
