So I have apparently gotten to the end of all available content for this version, when the new version drops here will I have to start over entirely or will it be a simple update and I can continue my save file
If you are on PC or MAC you have nothing to worry, saves are backed up inside and outside the game folder (double backup), so it will be automatcally available, even if you accidentally delete the old game folder. If you are using the launcher just run the update patch ad game update will happen in same folder.
