Good stuff! With a little more time, there’s something really promising here!
Overall really solid game! Reminds me of Orcs Must Die and other similar 1st person/3rd person tower defense games. It was a little bit hard to get into at first because there's not a lot of clarity on what I'm building or what things do, but once you experiment with the mechanics and they made more sense, it was pretty easy to keep playing. I wish there were more clarity on how much fuel is left in a certain turret because it was never fully clear to me, and also the turret placement felt a bit clunky, but overall the gameloop is strong and pretty enjoyable!
I really like what you guys have here. It might not be finished, but now that you are free from the restrictions of the jam, I think the groundwork has been laid for a great game!
All of the art (enemies, environment, props, and drill) is truly exceptional. Everything had a very pleasing and coherent style, so kudos to the future art director among you! The sounds were good by themselves, but tuning the attenuation and timing of the cues would go a long way towards improving the experience.
The idea for a tower defense game fits the theme pretty well. I really liked how the room framed the drill when looking back at it from the battlefield. I would have liked more variance in the terrain in the wide expanse between the bridge and the drill though, and I know you're capable of it because the enemy spawning side of the map is so well done.
The largest critique I have of the game is player messaging; giving information to the player where they need it. Mainly I had little to no way of knowing if the drill was actually making progress, and it wasn’t abundantly clear if it or the turrets were out of fuel.
From what I saw, the base features are pretty solid. The placing and functionality of the turrets worked flawlessly, and the enemies, when they got out of the spawn, were quite threatening. However, with a little more polish you guys could have a really compelling game on your hands. Tighten up that navmesh, give the player locomotion some love, and you’ll be laughing.
Overall, an entertaining game with good ideas and solid execution despite a few rough edges. Well done :)
