I can't see that this has been covered, but I'm having inordinate difficulty in even locating a Thunder Crystal despite the advise on these comments; is there a trick to finding one? (or preferably two for a Thunder Forge)

I've also found a Silver Key, but no Silver Chest as of yet.

The Thunder crystal can form when the Lightning Strikes the road, but it is not guaranteed so it's kind of random and rare and you can't influence it.

You can get one from defeating a Mimic with a 25% drop rate, this method is most reliable.

Silver Chest will be added in the next release, it doesn't exist yet.

Random question - it's been bugging me, but there's an unused house in the south of the Giblin village. Is this potentially for when the population expands sufficiently or a planned character's residence?

It's there in case I decide to expand the village, it has no actual use for now. I initially had plans to set it as a player owned store, but I shelved that idea (for now).
