Try checking around and doing different activities. Some events only happen on specific days during a specific time period. Something that happens when you teach a class in the morning on a monday might not happen at any other point in time during the week. Also, don't just focus on one character, try to work on multiple characters at once, as some might be locked behind progress with another.
