Sorry to hear that. I'm not quite sure why you are getting this error. However, I would recommend you try downloading the game via the https://itch.io/app

which should circumvent this issue.

I'm having the same issue, but it also includes the download for the itchio app. I've tried everything I could think of and was wondering if you had any suggestions?

I would recommend checking the Itch.io forums or getting in contact with itch customer support.
