Does the same thing happen if you don't specify a release date?
I haven't tried it... I usually just create (Project on the site) and upload files. Then, if you save, the site writes a time after how long the file will be given access to download.
Please go to your dashboard, edit -> metadata -> release info and check if there's anything in the release date field
