Good Morning,

I’ve just come across a fantastic new  publication that will be released soon by Anderson Entertainment “Moonbase Alpha Technical Operations Manual” it looks like a great book with lots of cutaway artwork. It just shows that there’s still a lot of interest in Space 1999.. also wondering if your working on anything else on Space 1999 VR?

kind regards Richard

Hi Richard, That technical manual looks pretty good doesn’t it! I’ve already pre-ordered a copy and having gone through some of the same modelling process myself, I’m really curious to see how they’ve tackled the various challenges. There is so much variation and inconsistency in the TV show that any two people are always going to interpret things slightly differently.

As far as new additions to the VR project goes, I’ve added a bunch of new props in the form of cases and scanners which you can see here: https://www.eagletransporter.com/forum/threads/space-1999-environments-in-virtual-reality.165121/page-3

More exciting than this though, is that I’ve finally started on the interior of the Eagle Passenger Pod. It’s always a difficult process to establish scale and correct proportions but I think I’ve finally cracked it and my perspective photo matches are mostly accurate to within 10mm or so. Originally I had this deluded idea that I might be able to make the interior fit inside the model of the Eagle that I’ve already done but knowing now what I do, that was never going to happen. So my plan now is to add a new scene to the VR project that includes the Travel Tube, the Antechamber, and the Passenger Pod interior in the same relationship that they had on set during the making of the TV show. At this rate I might have a new update ready in about 3 or 4 weeks, probably at around the time of the release of the Moonbase Alpha Technical Operations Manual :-)

the Eagle passenger pod sounds amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing more of your fantastic work.
Thank you for keeping this great project going.

Regards Richard

Hi Richard,

Well I’ve obviously missed my self imposed deadline of 4 weeks that I mentioned above but it's not all bad news because I’ve been making slow but steady progress and I think things have turned out quite well. I’ve got all the major elements in place with the only things left to do being a bunch of buttons, labels, and doodads. I’m really hoping to get this next update out the door in time for the Christmas break so keep a look out for it :-)

thank you for the update. I always look forward to seeing you great work and I know it will be worth the wait. Been watching the series again over the last couple of weeks. And really looking forward to  the update and of course the new Space 1999 book, I’ve got mine on order and hoping it will be released soon. Thank you for the fantastic VR project and for keeping it running. It is one of the few VR experiences that makes it worth buying the headset.. looking forward to your next release. Kind regards, Richard
