Thanks for your comments! Yeah I think we can sort of gloss over the checkpoint stuff... I will just say that difficulty adjustment is a lot harder than I thought, and I definitely need to allow for a wider range of familiarity with the genre/hand dexterity etc, especially for gamejam stuff where a lot of people are trying things very quickly... I will push back a bit on the theme implementation, but most of that was in the latter half of the game and the difficulty probably prevented you from getting there... if you have a moment I'd encourage you to try the checkpoint version and see if you can push through, just to see the extra stuff!
