"You think..? She's just terrible!"

They walked closer, curious

"Jesus, this is quite a lot"

"Seriously..."

Cinder skirted along the edge of the crowd, walking over to the guard-the gate was closed

"Excuse me, but I need to get in-"

???: "No public entrance to the castle today."

"But I have the prince's android-"

???: "Did his imperial highness give you a pass?"

"Well no, but-"

???: "Does the android have it's ID?"

"I do."

The android flashed it's ID code out at the guard

???: "You may enter."

Cinder went to slip in with it, but the guard blocked her

??:"Just the android."

"B-But we're together!"

???: "No pass, no entrance-"

"B-But I need to get in! I-I need to..."

She hated the whinyness in her voice...there wasn't a real reason...except that maybe...she just really wanted to see him.

"Pleeeease? I'll stick real close to her i promiseee!"

???: Linh-mei..."

The android spoke from within the gates

???: "I will inform Prince Kai that you wish to see him."

"Ah-n-no, that's not nessecary-"

He was probably busy, she knew how stupid this sounded-but the Android was already gone. The angry chanting suddenly stopped, making Cinder jump.

"Eh? Why did all of you sto-"

The Lunar Queen had stepped out onto the balcony, and the crowd stared up at her with dazzled faces, signs held in limp fingers. Cinder shrank back from the gates, frightened-but that fear was short lived. She wanted her. She needed her. This woman was perfect, this woman was meant to be queen...Cinder's retina display flashed a warning at her. She tried to blink it away, to stare at the queen more. The orange light flashed in the corner of her vision. It took her a moment to realize...Lies. She squeezed her eyes shut. When she looked up again, she saw the queen for what she was-haughty, controlling, cruel. She was brainwashing them. She had brainwashed her. She stumbled back, eyes wide.

"W-What the...why is everyone acting so weird...why do they look so emotionless?!"

"H-Hf-"

The queen's gaze jerked towards them, focusing on Cinder. A flash of surprise passed over her face. Then anger, hatred. Cinder flinched, wanting to run, but her legs had melted underneath her. Her retina display was drawing confused lines over her vision, she couldn't stand to keep looking at the queen's glamour. The queen's glare darkened until Cinder was sure she'd burst into tears despite her lack of tearducts. But then the queen stormed off, gaze angry as she strode back into the palace. Cinder had expected the crowd to resume their chanting, but they just walked off, like sleepwalkers. Cinder was trembling, legs aching. It seemed like she was the only one who had resisted the queen's powers-except she hadn't at first...she wasn't immune to the glamour. Not the way she was supposed to be. And worse still, the queen had seen her. She had known

aight time for a lil' perspective shift.
