I can say without a hint of a doubt that I felt ashamed to not realise that it was situated in Brazil...

I am Brazilian, and I did not notice it before I read the map. I was like: Wait a minute, this is written in Portuguese!

And as the time it taked me to realize that it was around the region I LIVE IN was far too long.

I blame only myself for not knowing what the "hinterlands" means in my language.

But dang I did love it! Every second of it.

I already am in love with this game, but this touch was actually really the cherry on top. I know there is more content ahead, but this time I really had to stop and share how much i loved it.

The history was so well written that I had to look for an sea lake here in the northeast region in Brasil (TO FIND OUT THAT THERE IS ACTUALLY ONE). The ambient, the people, the drama actually translates really well the hinterland folclore and costums...

I did some search and the city portrayed here actually got its name changed to "Santa Cruz" (or "Holy Cross" in English) after the legend events. and is fairly close to the city I live. but let me say something: I knew nothing about it beforehand. And i love when games make me search for things, and sparkle my curiosity like that.

It was amazing, and I really can't wait to see the next part of the stories.

Good job, detective! Now you know just how much of the Hinterlands is based on reality. I'm surprised someone figured the Santa Cruz connection, that must have required some digging. We were actually very close to using that as the name for the main town in the Hinterlands (and for a while we called it Dusty Cross) but ultimately Drowned Tapir was the right choice. If you make any other discoveries share them here with others, I stitched many towns and locations together to make up the Hinterlands.

And I'm really glad you enjoyed the Hinterlands. It was written with a lot of love and going all out with the writing. It's good to see just how many people connected to strongly with it.

about Santa Cruz. I was vibrating from excitement to be honest. Anta Afogada was really an excellent choice because it brings the mystic dark secrets on the name itself.

I will be more than glad to share anything if I come across it.
