I do wonder why we dont use our powers on males in more situations, like, with jessica's husband when you fuck in front of him on the prison you could super easily use the awaken power to make him subservient to you, or you could use shatter while he's stuck there alone and no one's nearby haha

Nothing in the story indicates MC's powers would work on males.
Even if playing all powerful illithid would be interesting. You have to have clear restrictions on what characters can and cannot do. That helps story to stay consistent and keep stakes interesting. Giving MC power to charm or dominate males out of the blue now would create entire multitude of continuity problems and would force game dev to consider who else can be charmed and how would it effect the plot. That trait would have needed to be included much earlier in the development or it needs to be included much latter where it does not create continuity problems with material that is already out. Also currently writer has a clear cut tool he can use to give MC a tough fight or completely counter his ability's. Throw a competent male fighter at him. Most powers MC has are good at dealing with females poor or weak against males. Any story requires elements you can use to keep MC's powers in check so you can have interesting situations. Removing male immunity to awaken or dominate just means you would need to pull out of your ass another way you can create limits for MC. In short from story creation perspective it's a really bad idea.
Giving MC powers to awaken or dominate males would completely make organization irrelevant. They would not be able to do anything to MC or his allies at that point. Writer would need to give organization robots or synthetics at that point to keep them any way relevant.
If you want a game that has some male on male action and is similar to this one. I think Symphonic Love has many male characters you can go on dates.

yea, the main character clearly CAN use his powers on males, the restriction is more self implemented than anything, tho even if like he doesnt do it for fun doing it on men still poses a huge advantage, as I said, there is no reason why he wouldnt at least ponder the possibility of using awake on jessica's husband
I think that, even if the situations are few and far between, it'd be good to have situations in which we can use our powers on men, even if not for sex at all, hell the main character might get some consequences for using his powers on someone and getting them interested that way despite his own preferences lol; it just feels a little weird to never consider it even when it is arguably the most logical option
and the fact that he can only really do on one (or two sometimes) at a time and that it is a big flash of light and requires close proximity are great limiters and reasons for doing it on males not completely depowering the organisation

I stand corrected. I honestly cannot remember having that option. Interesting. So shatter part of his power has worked on a man but what about Awaken. Is there any situation where it has been used. Unless it has actually been used we cannot really assume that part is going to automatically work. It raises feelings that are already there and does not really create new ones so I would be able to see awaken being as powerful against homosexuals or bisexuals but against a heterosexual I don't really see it working in practice because there is no feelings in there it can tap in to. If it works on a heterosexual as well what actually prevents MC from just spamming that area charm ability when you have squad of organization goons and just overpowering everyone? I assumed that mixed sex squads were so MC or female similar to him would not just be able to charm bomb entire squad and move forward with detachment of turncoat organization traitors. I would say considering how awaken has been described maybe those two goons were gays or bisexuals and that's why it worked. You need exception to every rule and those two are clearly exception that has to be explained out and I think more rational explanation would be power works on bisexuals and homosexuals than it works on all men period. Because if it works on everyone what is the point of organization at this point as a major faction they are completely under powered to deal with the MC at this point and were not any where near the ending? Only option they have now is drop a nuke at MC and hope it takes him out. MC shatter and awaken works at range so I would not trust even a squad of commandos to take him out if his power works on everyone.
Wait considering Awaken uses desires that are already there to unlock effects of adoration and sexual desire in target and you want to use it on clearly hetero sexual male. Thus making symbolic statement sexual preference is a social construct and everyone can go both ways. Because awaken uses what is there and does not add anything new.

on the topic of your prior and shorter comment, awaken and shatter literally do not work at a distance, the character has had to get closer to people to use it, and it cant be done in quick succession unless with a power boost; standing a few meters away with a gun pointed at em is literally protection enough under normal circumstances you dont need a nuke to take em down, so being able to affect males (which he can do that is not up to question) doesnt really make him "inmediatly nuke him" level; the fact that he literally cannot use his powers on a group of 5 teenage girls that are a few desks away from him because he'd inmediatly get caught thanks to all but the one or 2 he uses his powers on running away should be enough evidence to prove that he has the restrictions that he's literally said he has when thinking of options for what he can do in various situations (plus, ya know, bright flashes of light); his aura only works at a distance because it is a much weaker effect, also awaken cannot bring forth new desires but it can definetly twist existing ones (as we see him do literally all the time, because yes 90% of the people he used his powers on didnt want to be his fucking pets beforehand, awaken just amplifies and twists desires, he literally has to twist them with his words and people can fight back on it)
if by AOE awaken you mean "aura" then I gotta say that it's like, way weaker than awaken and not as versatile, it takes time and it only makes people hornier, plus the smarter and stronger willed one is the less it works on them and beings with the slightest of magical defenses (so 99% of feys and some humans) will just not be affected by it, it's said in the game itself when the ability is explained and we see it in effect in the school gameplay, so yea, no insta nuke threat level there
the MC has yet to use awaken on any men, but from all his grandfather has said I would imagine that he can, since he doesnt throw away the possibility, plus the fact that like, nothing suggest it wouldnt work on men, and all common sense suggests it would I'd imagine it would
