I was unable to replicate your bug and therefore couldn't fix it, so instead I put a debug menu into the game that lets you skip that section. I understand if you don't want to replay that far, but if you do and encounter the bug again, please make use of the debug menu :) (there is a debug.txt that comes with the download that details how)
