Yeah I found that moment really odd too. They say shes your childhood friend, but from my observations, it feels like shes more a non-blood sister who was living with the same guardians. Or maybe Bob and Elizabeth were "her" mum and dad, and you were adopted into the family as a place to go. Its just not explained very well. Childhood friends dont usually live in the same house, but rather next door or down the street.
