Did the firing sound bother you or is it the impact sound from the shots?

Do you mean we should speed up some of the slower enemy bullets?

I've just given it another whirl and I think it's actually the enemy ship spawning sound rather than the firing noise that's at quite a high pitch.

Yes to the enemy bullets, it just feels like some of them move quite slowly in relation to the player - worth experimenting to get pace vs difficulty.  Perhaps faster bullet patterns but more waves of them?  Just a suggestion to experiment with perhaps?
