How many days have you waited? You should be getting a harvest every three days after planting. 

Highway quest: explore the mountains in the map underneath Thessila, near the fishing pond at the bottom

Ghost: when you go back on the map, you should see a red glowing circle east of the Larklast map (make sure you bought the book at the bookshop!)
