I apologize for the inconvenience ShadowMagi. This is most likely due to the game currently being very resource intensive when initially loading the world and possibly your computer not having enough RAM. This is a known issue and I'm working on it. The world is huge and starting the game makes everything in the world load at once and by default uses as much RAM as it can to hasten load times. If you don't have a strong enough computer it can cause long loading times or crashes. After the game loads it should settle down and stay at 4GB memory usage throughout the play session until you quit and load again, which causes another temporary memory spike as the world has to reload.
If your game crashes there may not be anything you can do right now until I optimize the world loading. If the game doesn't crash on the loading screen, you may just have to wait a few minutes for it to load. On my PC load time is only about 20-30 seconds, but some testers with lower spec computers have reported having to wait 5 mins or so.
Does the loading % show on the screen before you crash or stall? If it does and you can tell me what % it was at and what the last entry in each of the 2 columns on the print string was that shows in the corner when loading, that may help me debug and optimize loading times.
Thanks for trying Windstone and I apologize again that it isn't working for you. Hopefully you can play it in the future.
