Is it possible to apply a patching launcher in android similar to how bigger titles do it? Like you have a minimal APK and download and run the game from there? I know this may be asking a lot for a free game though.
I am not a big game development team, I am just one person. Nor do I own a server room full of computers to upload that update to you and the dozens of thousands of people that download it on launch day. I have to use sites like google drive and mega which have limits because all of this is very expensive.
