Edit: after scrolling down the comments my suspicious were correct, they are indeed Polish.

(Jk, also I didn't know Slavic people also use "Pierogi" instead of "Pierogi-es")

The part at the Pierogi stand (I hope I spelt it right) made me think they were Polish

They don’t mention pierogis in that scene, but I remember them being mentioned at some point… If it were a ren’py game (even if compiled and/or compressed) it wouldn’t be too much trouble to find where, but this game ain’t one… Oh well.
