Making lots of new items is a great way to enhance the gameplay, especially with building stats or adding some special abilities. That alone will make your game more unique. I'm not sure of a good method for making monsters, I wish I could help there, but my designs are very basic. Also, don't worry too much about making some. As you noticed, I used the same monsters way too often with some variations. With Rpg maker I change the hue color and give a different name variation and a different skilk. It's an easy way of having a class of monsters. Give your battles a balanced challenge and that will really make up for it. Keep it up, you'll make a great game :)
yes changing the hue for different monsters i did a little for the monsters i done so far , i did lot of items and skills but maybe i'll get new ideas about it as times go on :) completed skills that were already there too because i find it was lacking some things, i probably will have to work more on equipments too but it's fine for now , aside from regular monsters i added 2 boss fight so far (and one optional battle that can be seen like a boss fight ) . i guess for the battles themselves someone will have to try out when i'll update my game ..for me it looks ok but no idea how someone else would see it
Hello Alexanda :) thank you very much :) no idea how to edit anything thought.
i think i will do a update sooner than i thought to have some feedback to see if it's ok what i am doing
next update would have : - 2 village to visit ,2 places filled with monsters
- playable characters joining the party
- new items /weapons/armors
Once you learn how to use an editing program, you'll be able to edit your tile-sets and create variations to your pieces. Items like trees you can make a few different coloured ones, which is what I did. It's really a neat way to add a different look to your game as the most common item used in RPG Maker games are the trees, which is why I only use the single ones with a few colour styles to make them different.
I think you could learn to do that in a few days. I'm not sure how good it is, but GIMP is a free editing tool and you can put your tile set in there and make some edits. It's an advanced skill to have, just back everything up in your game first before playing with tile-sets so you can undo any mistakes.
Hey, I made a new game and everything was great. You should check out a few of the pictures in the gallery though, as I was able to walk through them. I found one by accident and checked another. The ones closest the the floor tile just need to be modified so they can't be walked by going in to the tile-set menu.
The default movement of the NPC's is a bit robotic due to the default frequency. This can easily be fixed by using the options.
Set speed to any that you want, Freq (frequency) At highest will move the NPC smoothly like in my game without them having sudden pauses. 2x Slower, or Normal is the best to have in my experience. I'm not sure why they didn't smooth the movement when making the new engine. There is so much the makers of RPG Maker don't do which leaves it to the community to sort out, or a paid DLC to fix. :/.
You probably may know this already, Movement type, allows you to set NPC's which can approach the player, move away from the player, or even a custom move route for setting movements. I hope that little bit of information helps.
If you could also add a different tile here in the apartments, this would give a visual nod that there is exit or an entrance. I was confused first time around, and so I wanted to share this now as I feel it could confuse players not knowing that the exit/entrance is to the side.
My last bit of advice is on the enemies, the pace of battle is slow, which again is RPG Makers fault, I am able to speed mine up using a script. There will be a way with your engine, but I would need to have a look to see if you can change it by altering a the script settings. I would reduce the HP of all the enemies to bring the speed of battle to a close sooner. Some battles can take 3-4 minutes which is pretty long. Make them short and snappy, that way it'll encourage wanting to battle more. It's totally something I would change from experience. Put longer battles in later in the game while players are warming up.
Hello Alexanda , ahhh the art gallery , yes i guess i forgot to check every of them ;thank you :) i'll fix it soon.
The speed yes i let all of them with the default speed except 2 i think ...i'll try to see if i can make it better. i'm not against buying things for my game but depends on price..no idea if there is anything about npc walking ?
yes i know we can set route for npcs it's just i didn't do it until now. i only did it for Yumi or others actors / bad guys.
will look into the ground tiles for the appartments if i can make something better.
I am not sure what to do about battles if it's not good..reduce the monsters on map ...or reducing all hps which mean changing physical/magic
attacks power. i need time to think about it and i wish someone else wold say something too to have more than one point of vieuw.
in your game i don't have any problems about battles either it's hard or easy , probably because of my long years of all kind of difficulty about battles in rpg's. there just the quest where we need to kill so many bats that i have this feeling of not wanting to battle.
