Hey! Thanks for checking out my devlog. I'm Ken, and as this is my first time ever making a game of any kind I'm opting for something extremely simple: you walk around a couple of simple maps of varying size and complexity, and you have conversations with some funny pixel art birds about the concept of freedom, where I maybe get a little too pretentious with my writing and hope people get something out of it while I figure out coding slightly better, maybe.
Hopefully I'll be able to update this on a consistent basis, but the timing does suck because a lot of stuff has been happening in my life, and I also totally forgot Art Fight was around the same time and I'm not great at allocating my time sooo wish me luck?
Things I am currently figuring out as of posting:
- Basically everything? lol
- I need to map out specifics (such as the maps themselves, the number and sizes and layouts, how do things progress, what can be implemented as an "ending" for something like this if anything and if that means some kind of structured story) and start writing text for the characters.
- The characters themselves will just be some birds I draw. Bigger issue is making the map art, something I have limited practice with.
- Also, this is a little late to be doing this but I'm still not entirely certain of the actual game making program. It should be noted that no matter how cheap something is I have zero money like genuinely I cannot buy any program. I've been testing out an extremely simple RPG maker (not that one) but its so simple I don't actually think it can do some of even the small things I want this to be able to do. I also have Godot but have no clue how to work it. I would still need to research how you could make an RPG in that.
