Monologue in the background is good. As well the connection between mother and baby is an interesting view, which I, as a man, did not have. But your game made me think about it!

I was initially thinking about having a generic hero/man to save the baby. But I guess having a mother protect her baby will be easier to establish a relationship with minimum dialogue, as well as have a deeper meaning. It also fits better with the theme Joined Together. Aside from being physically joined, the theme may also pertain to the mother and the baby's bond/relationship.
