I might just not know how to search DLsite's tags properly. I zoomed over immediately to have a look. But, yeah, I found about a hundred or so there. Reading most of those descriptions as a woman made me realise I was probably asking a little much from DLsite to want more eroge marketed toward women.

The Eroge market focuses more on the male audience and not on the female one, for the female audience it is customary to produce Otomege.

There are Eroge with female protagonists who are not raped or used as sexual objects by others and who are the tachi, but they are very rare.

Could you define what "tachi" means?

But yeah, sexual objectification and sexual assault is very common. The bigger issue I find is that female characters in these games don't get to choose when/why they get to have sex. They are forced to go into a place to get some mcguffin where they get assaulted, or a guy has some sort of magical power or higher political/magical goal that makes women have to have sex with him. Women in these games are never allowed to go about and choose who they have sex with and are portrayed as never actually wanting sex to start with, just for the sake of having sex. If they do it's always because of prostitution or some other goal that the player character forces the heroine into.

Yeah, that's been my issue with most of the erotic games I've tried to play. Either the female protagonist has little to no agency, or the erotic content is set to a minimum because the game is still somehow trying to keep the player character pure and naive and "maidenly".

Tachi: Japanese slang word for the "top" or active partner in a relationship. Neko: Japanese slang for the "bottom" in a relationship.
These are terms used in the Yuri community.

That's very true, personally the only good western game that always comes to my mind are the ones from evakiss.
When it comes to female protagonist japanese eroge, only a few of them are really worthwhile, and unfortunately almost all of them are not officially translated.

Ugh... I need to properly learn the correct terms, then. Otomege that have been well/officially translated are so damn hard to find.

Well, hell, if that isn't the story of my life... <.<

DLsite has a for women storefront. It's the R18 BL/TL button on the far right. As for other stuff here on itchio, try this collection: https://itch.io/c/1172106/sexy-mostly-lesbianfemale-protag-games

Thanks for the help. Though, from the looks of things, dlsite probably won't be a viable option for me until I relearn how to read Japanese. There are so few translated options, and the few that are there still have the issue of a powerless, female protagonist. Why is it so hard for a girl to find erotic M4F game scenarios where they can be in charge...?
