Thanks for playing- we wanted to incentivize the player to keep the number of farmers down. Once the whole town is out on the hunt you're gonna have a bad time. If you take it one farmer at a time from a distance you should be able to turn the tides.
You can also assign multiple rats to the same farmer to make quicker work of them.
