I must have forgotten the news that cat astronauts are also making moon bases in real life. Games are abstractions, and real-life logic can't always be assumed to apply. Most games do, in fact, prevent you from losing critical or unique items even if other items can be lost.

Don't be so quick to assume I was making fun of your point; it was actually a remark against real life logic applying in games. 

The majority always seem so impressed by 'realistic' games. So boring. I think they secretly just can't appreciate the medium and would be better suited to appreciating real life. It is 100% realistic.
