[review posted in regards to version 0.1]
This is a good game with a neat idea and some great animations, but it could use a couple quality of life improvements. Specifically crouching is awkward, walking is a bit slow and platforms are extremely slow.
First, the positives. The game's fun, the execution is well done (for the most part, see below) the art is cute and the animations are sexy and plentiful. I'm definitely looking forward to updates with more, and I certainly wouldn't mind playing more stages to get to them. I'll admit I was a little disappointed goblins didn't have at least a basic threesome animation (they are goblins, after all,) but I can hold off and hope that comes in the next update.
The control are responsive, if a little sluggish sometimes. What I mean by this is that it'll always do what you tell it to, but sometimes it feels like there's a slight bit of input delay caused by command queueing, or the like. This usually only happens when I'm fighting something that requires crouching, which is an issue of it's own (again, see below,) but it's frustrating when it happens.
The art and animations are the highest point of the game and, obviously what drew me here in the first place. They're high quality, there's a solid variety (essentially one for each enemy, until gangbangs get patched in) and overall they're very nice. Would love to see an animation gallery get added, not just a still image one, though I believe that's in the "future goals" already. There honestly isn't much else to say about them, except "the pregnancy & birthing system is a nice touch."
Now, for the negatives. First, to elaborate a bit on my issues with crouching, it's mostly to do with entering, exiting & staying in crouch mode. If you enter crouch mode, obviously there's a short animation that plays of Hailey crouching down; this is fine, however taking damage gets you stuck in a weird half-crouched state where you move at crouch speed, but you attack at standing height. This makes fighting ground based enemies like scorpions an absolute nightmare. I would really prefer if you either stayed completely crouched, or stood all the way up after taking damage.
As for walking and platforms, I can understand that walking is the speed it is for the sake of the timed gates, but it still feels more than a bit tedious to backtrack everywhere looking for treasure. This is made especially tiring with the platforms, which, to me, have no reason to move as slowly as they do. There's a specific part in stage 6 (Dust Mines 3) that's particularly egregious - there's an extremely long vertical drop, with the only way back up being a platform; one you have to get off and back on again to get everything - and if you miss the thing, you essentially have to sit there twiddling your thumbs for 3 whole minutes while it very slowly does a lap. The platform on stage 15 is much longer, but thankfully you only have to take it once and that doesn't involve waiting for it to come back down. Speeding up the movement of platforms would be a simple fix, and if you're worried about the player not being able to jump off in time, you could just have the platform stop at each end for a second longer before it continues moving.
All told, it's a good game and I'm looking forward to more. Thank you for your time, for making it and also, for reading this.
