In version 10 you are not able to place the bridge blue prints in unexplored areas. SO I built the bridge to the edge and was not able to expand the explored area so I cannot continue the bridge.
I think you need to use the canoe now!

With a Paddle in your hands right click on the canoe. To get out, just RMB on any adjacent tile :)
