I had the same problem as well. I didn't hear any message being transmitted by the radio and couldn't figure out how to get out of the car.
This seems like a common problem. I'll update the game as soon as the game jam is over. Meanwhile I have attached a walkthrough. Hopefully that will help you to get past the first level.
