Review time!

So I'm finally getting around to looking at some games I got in a bundle awhile back, and this one seemed very interesting. Unfortunately, that's the most positive thing I can say for a first impression.

This game is very "alpha stage". You launch it, enter your name, and are immediately thrown into its world. And stylistically, it looks great! So I go to fine tune the settings as I do before playing any game. Here's the first issue I came across. As of writing this review, you cannot toggle the pause menu. You MUST hold down the Esc key to view its options.

Putting that aside, going into the options is a mess. 1/3rd of the options I couldn't read.

1/3rd I had no idea what they did, and the last 3rd was the graphics options.

Unfortunately (again), these options seem to do very little. No matter which "graphic setting" I chose, the game refused to go above 30fps. Mind you, I don't have the latest and greatest pc, but a gtx 1060 with an AMD fx-6350 should be able to handle this game no problem.

I would argue the game is also full of questionable and confusing UI elements, and the lo-fi aesthetic (while looking great!) does take away from visual clarity. But I'll consider that personal preference for now and chalk it up to "early access jank".

In fairness, I never got to the "gameplay" parts of the game as this first impression was very jarring. Therefore I can't comment on how fun it is to actually play.

Overall, this game looks very promising, but in its current state I can't recommend this to anyone. This is a very ambitious project for a one man team, and the style of it looks great! But the UI and first impressions REALLY need work.

I would also like to add that the 4 curator steam reviews (as of writing this), are incredibly positive for some reason. Kinda sus :/

Hey! Thanks for checking out my game :D I'll definitely work on those points. The current UI design does need work and the fact that they aren't properly functional is a big problem. Thanks again for bringing that up to my attention and I will bump it up in priority. The quality of it is tied to resolution, may I ask what resolution you are playing on?

As for the bad fps, that's mainly an issue with optimization, specifically for cpu. It has low fps probably because your cpu is maxed out and the graphics card has to wait for cpu processes. A new update coming out soon will be better optimized so I hope it will run better for you.

Not an excuse, but as a note. The game is still in early access and I am a solo developer, so updates might come slowly. Some updates will change major parts of the game as nothing is really set in stone just yet. However, I am grinding both fixes and new features! Please be patient and thanks again for writing!

Glad you took my review gracefully :)

I ran it at 1080p

I'm still interested to see where you'll take this game, but it's still a very ambitious project for a solo dev. I'll probably check back in on it in a year or so and see how you've improved upon it.

Best of luck!
