I finished the game entirely and I gotta say, you did a pretty excellent job for the most part in creating a turn based combat game. Especially because I love playing and watching pokemon too so I took a big liking into this. As you know, I have to be very critical about this because there were a couple of things that made the game a bit less enjoyable and I caught a few bugs. So here they are:
- If you click really fast enough, you can breeze through the moves and the turn based attack gameplay tends to be a bit off and makes it complicated. Also, in the process, its as if the game continues even if you defeat the opponent. For example, When I did this glitch and I landed my last move and won, I ended up losing after that.
- The UI is a bit stretched in the menu screen (Mainly the Untitled Game Jam image) and other UI images are somewhat misfitting for some of the other UI elements you used in the area. The title image button looked pretty plain and didn't seem to fit with the ocean background. Also, when I fullscreened, the game didn't fullscreen with it it retained its same size.
- It would of been really nice if you displayed a health GUI for the enemies so I can see how much damage my attacks were doing. It felt like it was kind of random or maybe they hit criticals from time to time. I'm not sure, but it would of been really nice to address these things. Also I would of liked it if you informed the players whether the moves used on the opponents were effective or not so I can strategize and also allow me to pick out the moves I want to use.
This felt like a pretty good storymode as I passed through this game and it was pretty fun to play this. With a bit of polishing, this game can be even better. Nice work!
(Also, I saw you wrote saving is implemented, but all of my levels ended up being locked after I completed the game and tried to start over. And I don't know if you were trying to reference something with the Ararara from something called Jojo's bizarre adventure, but if so, nice!)
