You've said the game often bugs out. Did the AI freezing bug start to happen after a playing for a little while, meaning you've gone back and forth between captivity and stages alot?
If so, restart the game to "refresh" it. This is not a solution, I know. But for the time being this can be helpful.
It seems to happen only to the space station level so far. and only once in the cave level, which also allowed me to perform infinite jumps and reach the nest area. unfortunately when this happens, after some waves the enemy no longer spawns or even if th level is clear, nothing happens
