What a "cute" game :)

From a pure gameplay loop perspective, the game is very fun. I appreciate that I could play it with only the mouse.

On my first run I made over 900 points, without finding any powerups or catching anything other then sheep. I have no idea if that's good or bad, as the highscores were pretty low. On the second run, I got 970 with finding a single powerup up (the sprint one) and catching 2 rabbits. I also wondered to the left, it was almost empty and wasted some of my time.

Basically, I don't see why I would try a third time, as I have no context if my performance was good or bad, or any sense of progress. Perhaps some of the animals or powerups would only appear after achieving some score, or some other unlock system. Anything that would motivate me to actually run again, see if I can do better and be curious how the next unlock/achievement will alter the game.

I will be playing more though, to get a better sense of the balance etc. that you mentioned in the post.

Yeah, definitely I feel that I get more points and fun with just focusing on the sheep and keeping the x8 combo going. I still have not found organically other powerups, and if a killed a different animal it was purely by accident as it was on my path to the next sheep.

(1 edit)

I must honestly say 900 on your very first run is huge! As you see in the highscore list most other players gained lower scores by now. So nice job!

The game is not about leveling your wolf or unlocking achievements (as of now). I want it to be a simple arcade game that you play to beat your own or other player's highscore. For this purpose the game has a large enough map with different spots and strategies you can go for. If you already reached #1 in the ranking, you may take a break and check back later. I can assure you there are much higher scores possible! ;)

That being said, I must add that I like the idea of achievements. I think that might fit pretty good into the game. It would be a great feature for a Steam release! I will definitely keep that in mind.

Thanks for taking the time and giving this valuable feedback!

Totally understandable! I think even the achievements would scratch that itch of having some sense how well I'm doing vs how well it could go if I practice/try new things.
