Hey guys,

I just wanted to hop on here to share the game that I actually just released earlier today! Build-A-Game is an idle game where you actually build the game around you. As you buy more and more upgrades, new features such as buttons and menus will pop up as well as, new gameplay features and improvement to the graphics. As this is my first Unity game, I have been having a lot of fun learning how to engine works and figuring out how to make my vision happen. Every day is a new journey in which I have to fix a new problem :).

Currently, there are only about 15 minutes of gameplay, but my next update will be mainly about creating new content and improving bugs.

Things that I am working on currently include:

  • New Upgrades
    • Pause/Play Button
    • New Character Design
    • Obstacles in the level
    • Enemies
  • Fixing Issues
    • Adding function to the last three upgrades (Whoops)
    • Improving how the buttons move up on the screen and making sure you can't click them out of order
  • Creating New Assets
    • Background assets for "Better Backgrounds" upgrade
    • Assets for "New Character Design" upgrade

Things I want to work on in the future:

  • Save and Load System
  • A Prestige Upgrade System
  • Creating more choices for the player to make

Here are some screenshots for those of you who are interested

If any of you have any feedback or suggestions for me, I would love to hear them!

Hey y'all,

So school got really busy so I haven't been able to create as much content as I would like. However, I have added function to the last three buttons and fixed the "bad ending" that could not happen if you clicked buttons out of order.  In this coming week, I really would like to add more content so that there is way more gameplay than there was previously.

New Things to Look Out for in the New Update:

  • Pause/Play Button
  • No more "Bad Ending"
  • More Button Functionality

Things That I Am Currently Working On:

  • Better Character Upgrade
  • Fixing the pixeliness of the new game screen
  • Adding a Settings Background

Things I Want to Work on in the Future:

  • Hover Info on Buttons
  • Save and Load System
  • Prestige System

**I'm pushing back player choices and a few other things so that I can focus on the hover info. I do not believe that having "locked" on every button so that a player does not click on it is great UI practice. **

Awesome I really enjoy it when i find someone else that is making there first game too! I know it can be hard making your first game, keep it up.

Hey Guys,

I wanted to give another update about Build-A-Game. I've been thinking long and hard about the future of this game and I think it's best if I start over and take another approach. From some of the comments that I have gotten here and on Google Play, I think the concept has promise, but I don't think that the way I have tried programming it has done it justice. So, I'm going to start over. Currently, what I'm planning on doing is building the game backwards. Once I have a "completed" game I can take it back apart to make the upgrades easier for me. If you guys have any thoughts on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
