I have the same issue. The camera cannot move beyond the range of -90 to 90 in any direction, using auto-targeting or manual. I cannot see the asteroid in mission two. It is stressful.
edit: I see you answered this below. I wasn't able to it.. what coordinates should it say on the screen when I am looking at the collision location?
edit again: I came back 5 years later and played through the whole game. The answer is that the coordinates are swapped in the Eye menu, AND you have to manually adjust your coordinates if the Horizontal direction is more than 90 degrees away from Earth, AND you have to zoom in to maximum to see anything.
The game is wonderful, it just takes a bit of figuring before you fully learn how to pilot Ra.
