Sure, it’s the kind of thing to keep in your back pocket and perhaps use if you run out of space. :-) I was just looking for a fun October jam and honestly probably wanted to build something “more pico-8 like”… but Chip-8 + XO-Chip actually can get you closer than you might think if you just turn on “ludicrous mode” and accept the palette limitations. :-)

Plus I’ve always been terrible at music/audio and that’s less a problem on Chip-8 since it’s so limited. :-)

I love Octo myself. The limitations lead to some interesting solutions and some pretty surprising games have been made over the years. Creative use of the limited pallet and the two bitplanes in XO-Chip are pretty fun to work around, for me.
