Updating game

Greetings,

Just saw the new update (0.2.5) and downloaded the full game so I would be at recent update (v0.2.5).  Is there a way to update without a full install? I don´t use the itch.io app which auto-updates your games, so I do it manually. That´s one of the reasons I buy games from Itch.io, so I don´t need apps like Steam and such.

Thanks, and keep up the great work!

All the best,

Hey Mike. I've been receiving many crash reports from older versions of the game, and I've been looking around for ways to create auto-updater inside the game, but I don't think it's feasible to do it, because it would take a significant development time and would imitate itch.io app (would require authentication to itch.io, some diff for the game files, etc.).
I was thinking about putting a check inside the game that will notify you if you're playing on the latest version on the main menu screen. Unfortunately, it still requires a full, manual download from the itch.io website without the itch client.

Artur,

NM.  I see that the download link is at the top of the game page .. I missed that.  Thanks.

Hi Artur,

Thanks for your prompt reply.  No worries, I was just wondering, and I understand from your reply that it´s not a easy thing to do right now. I personally don´t mind a new download, just thought I would ask, just in case.

The check Idea would be cool, or a automated e-mail to those who own the game. Something so we know there´s an update available.  I just happend to check in here and saw the update, otherwise I would have no Idea.

Cheers, and thanks again.

Mailing is a very good idea also, I've seen it's possible through itch. Thanks!

Quick question, when you do a full install for an update, does it make a new application or does it replace the old one on your system?

Sorry for getting back to you so late, unfortunately itch didn't notify me about your reply to this thread. :)

The game doesn't install anything on the system, after unzipping it's ready to run. It takes some space on windows drive for save games, global settings like keymapping, and world generation stuff, but other than that there is no registration in the system and simply removing the directory is enough to remove the game.
